GETTING STARTED IN WICCABasic Wiccan Tools and Symbols - Earth: Salt, Stone, Soil, CrystalsMany items can serve as a representation of Earth. Purchase a bag of ‘fire purified’ sand at your local home improvement store. You will need very little of the large bag you must buy, but at least it's not very expensive. You can use the sand at the bottom of your incense burning container. You may eventually want to add special stones or crystals to represent Earth (See Other Metaphysical Tools: Sacred Stones). When choosing crystals look for clear stones without inclusions (lots of fracturing) or haziness. Clarity is often more desirable than size. Even more important than how it looks is to ask yourself the question, ‘does it resonate within you’, i.e. do you have a ‘special feeling’ when you hold it in your hands. A large part of Wicca is acknowledging and developing these intuitive feelings.
