Wiccan Holy Days and Sabbaths to Observe –
Lummas, Lughnasad – August 1
This holiday is named in honor of the God in the form of Lugh, the Sun King. It is the first of the three harvest holy days when the first fruits are offered in thanks for bountiful crops. Like Thanksgiving, it can be considered to be a time to be grateful for the blessings of life. A meal should be shared that includes the produce and grains of the season.
Lummas – Additional Sabbath Tools
In addition to the standard Sabbath Tools, the following items should be brought to the Ritual.
Colors to wear
- red and orange
- slice or 2 of bread (placed in a basket before the ritual)
- fire pit with wood or extremely large candle
- Wood walking staff or decorated gourd or wand, or something special that symbolizes autumnal power and magic.
Seasonal Incense or Oil
- Grain made ale (amber or dark beer is especially appropriate), corn cakes, potato cakes, or other corn and potato foods (hey even potato chips!)
