How do I get in touch with other like minds?
Dear Anand,
I am fairly new to Wicca, and I was looking for people to talk to and maybe to answer some of my questions. My boyfriend got me interested, but he isn’t much help in answering questions for me. Maybe sometime you can help me figure something out. Thanks in advance.
Merry Meet and Merry part.

Hi there Dione,
Well, you are doing the best thing by reaching out to others – it’s one of the best ways to learn more. You will find that Wiccans have many different viewpoints about Wicca. That is what makes Wicca so wonderful. You are free to interpret your spirituality as you see fit. Not everybody is an expert – but you will gain little pearls of wisdom from many different sources.
Wicca has no central authority figure and is comprised of small private groups and solitary practitioners like you. If you wish to join a group that supports your Wiccan activities it may take some digging as Wiccans often conduct their activities discreetly. There should be no initiation fee and if any activity makes you feel uncomfortable, leave immediately!
To find out more about Wicca, if you like to read, my favorite author on Wicca is Scott Cunningham. He presents a very knowledgeable and livable viewpoint on the philosophy.
Regarding looking for people to talk to… Try cruising the web and see what you like best. Follow your gut instinct if you think someone’s a Good Wiccan or not. I am personally not in favor of anyone who would openly call themselves a “witch.” That kind of person is romancing conflict and most probably trying to get attention or start controversy.
Write to the various webmasters and mistresses that have built those sites. I have made quite a few friends over the internet on various subjects – not just Wicca – from appreciating the work others have shared on the web.
Lastly, the Covenant of the Goddess might be able to put you in touch with people in your geographic area and in Los Angeles there is a terrific group called Re-Weaving.
Blessed Be.
