Macbeth BONUS
In the Good Wiccan Guide Part One I go into quite some detail about William Shakespeare’s famous play Macbeth. It is to show you that all the conspiracies and charlatans that you think are brand new have been going since time immortal. I broke this idea up into three separate posts, but have received a question from a reader about another passage I wrote about. The “Something wicked this way comes scene.”
Here is the final Macbeth excerpt from The Good Wiccan Guide – Part One: Introduction and Popular Mythology.
When Macbeth comes back, the witches call up the requested “artificial sprites.” Like any good Tarot Reader or Fortune Teller, it is less about inventing a new fact, and more about revealing existing truths for “the target subject.” They help Macbeth know more of what is already in his wicked mind and heart. He is the one who fills in the details of his murderous scheme.
MACBETH: Thou hast harp’d my fear aright
These “weird sisters’ don’t tempt him to twist. He’s already twisted. They just heat up the pot so to speak. And he uses their phony prophesy as justification for his actions.
The witches are used as a device to portray chaos and conflict, but mainly chicanery. So as far as the witches go, Shakespeare’s moral lesson is subtle and bemusing.
In Macbeth, Shakespeare is telling folks to put less stock in what the local folk ‘witch’ women say and do, because it might get you into double trouble. I.e. take your local witches’ advice with a grain of salt lest you become your own worst nightmare.
Macbeth is the first TMZ style expose of Bogus Witchcraft!
It was really important for me to share this historical Shakespearean information with my fellow Good Wiccans, because as you probably already seen and experienced, there are a lot of wannabe witches out there and many of them are hawking their products or services. Now of course I am not telling you to not support your fellow witches, after all, I am selling my own books right? But what I want you to learn from this reading, however, is that you should develop and learn to trust your intuition. You will begin to know and feel when someone is operating from a deeper loving truth and desire to share light – not shadows. AND you will start to recognize how others might manipulate you by praying on your ego and/or stirring up negative emotions. (Like all those silly witches who ‘protest’ against political figures… Keep that ego in check, remain in light, and stay fluid with the Way of the Good Wiccan and you will always be guided well.
